This post is hard to me because I am not close to the art worlds, so, I don´t
really know what to write here. Anyway, I think arts in general (poetry,
literature, music, cinema, etc) are important because can beautify the life and
are the most liberating way to express the human interiority. Also I think it
can be used to make the people reflect about their contexts, as a social criticism,
and that’s the way of art that I enjoy, more than the other kinds of arts that
just want to garnish a high class wall.
I wasn’t interested in visual arts when I was a kid, and I was very untalented
in the subject of “Arts” in the school, on fact, I always be the worst rating
in the class, because the teacher thought that my draws were too ugly.
I like to visit art museums, but just when I have a lot of free time and
don´t have any better thing to do. I don’t have artistic abilities, so I’d
never participated in any art competition, just once, when I was 10 years old
and in the school the older people organized an art competition, and I participated
and I won, but just because my sister was one of the organizers and convince to
his friends to vote for my drawing.
All my life I was jealous of everybody art work.
I don´t know what is exactly the modern art, but I like the Avant-gardes,
like surrealism, futurism, etc. And I think the idea of make a manifesto is
really powerful. Anyway, my favorite kind of visual art expression is the
photography, because is incredible how some people can see the same thing as
you, but when you see her/his photography, they could capture a portion of reality
that you didn’t see.
I don’t consider graffiti a vandalism, of course is art! If someone
don´t see art in graffiti is because is too blinded by the academy and is this kind of
people who understand the contemporary art of MAC (freak people, because I think
nobody understand it).
Also, I think the art creation made of human flesh, blood or bones is
just an a way to call the attention, but is not really interesting or creative
to me.
I don´t have any favorite artist or work of art.
What kind of teacher says to his student that their draws are ugly D: I consider that the Avant-gardes are interesting too :)
